We had a wonderful time at our class BBQ! Thank you Cristie and Doug for opening your beautiful home so we can all hang out and have fun together. The kids will NEVER forget it.
Monday is Cinco de Mayo! We will have a normal school day, but will talk a bit about celebrations in other countries. Mrs. Soto's dinner at 11Alive will be tonight! I'll be able to watch the 5:00 news behind the scenes! Thanks again for honoring me through your sweet words.
Tuesday is our Environmental Fieldtrip. We will be asking parents to pack their child's lunch in a brown bag IF they are not getting school sack lunches. This is our final even for the Environmental permission you filled out many months ago.
Wednesday is Evening in the Garden! Please come and bring a picnic lunch to enjoy with your family. There will be many events to entertain and delight the entire family. I'll see you there!
Thursday is our yearbook signing. Students who did not purchase a yearbook will be given memory books created by Mrs. Soto so they can too get signatures and summer contact information.
Friday is a Target Day. Remember that students' final drafts are due. They will perform a dress rehersal for their final project. Next Friday, they will present for our class and I will have the honor of video taping the event! Practice makes perfect. In our classroom, we will be working on research and note taking for our Country Projects. This project will be almost completely finished in our classroom. Outside artifacts may be brought in to share when their country is presented. More information will come home this week.

Newsletter for April 28- May 2

Our end of the year evaluations have begun. I have been testing each student's reading level using DRA testing. These scores will be sent on to next year's teacher. This will help get a quick start on reading groups in fourth grade!
Spelling Achievement Test as well as End of Year Language Arts testing will conclude this week. We continue to work on upper case cursive formation. Students are expected to be able to write neatly and fluently in cursive by the end of the year.
Math Post-Tests will be given in several weeks. Star Reading Tests on the computer will be given soon. Social Studies country projects will be worked on throughout the rest of this marking period. More information will follow concerning specifics of this report.
Today (Wednesday) is the mid-term. Progress reports will be attached to your child's Friday packet. There should never be any surprises on your child's report card. If there are, I am not doing my job of communicating this information properly. I hope to give you a clear picture of your child's strengths as well as their area(s) of weakness.
CRCTs are OVER!!! Thank you for a flawless 5 days of treats, snacks, drinks, and surprises!! It made testing SO much more fun! Your time and efforts are appreciate! The kids all enjoy being in charge of these special assignments. ;-)
Homework for the week:
Monday-Tuesday- Testing-No Homework other than reading
Wednesday- Practice upper case cursive letters
Thursday- Math graphing activity
